Welcome to ASHA 2007! This year's Convention theme is Honor the Past - Forge the Future and it is perfect for Boston. The city mixes the old and new together beautifully with the country's first public library and many historical sites, along with a new contemporary art museum and convention center.
The Convention will help us plan for the future by examining the past. Our past is filled with exceptional events and people that paved the way for us to move forward into new research and evidenced-based practice. The Convention Program Committee under Patricia A. Prelock and Robert F. Burkard has worked hard to pull together program sessions that will advance our knowledge, stimulate our thinking, and provide practical information.
We will be celebrating the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association's (NSSLHA) 35th anniversary during the Convention and welcoming over 2,000 students who will be helping us to forge the future of the professions. Support the students and plan on attending the NSSLHA Nite—Back to the Future party right after Open Houses on Friday night. See page 31 for the NSSLHA Day events.
All educational sessions will be held at the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center including short courses. On Thursday, the Opening General Session will feature a keynote from Erin Gruwell, author of Freedom Writers. On Friday, the Awards Ceremony will celebrate the achievements of our colleagues. Both events will take place at the convention center.
I look forward to welcoming you to Boston during ASHA 2007!
