NSSLHA Administrative Assistant

(Part-time 30 hours per week)

The purpose of this position is to assist the NSSLHA Director of Operations in all facets of the daily operations of the NSSLHA National Office. This position reports to the NSSLHA Director of Operations. 

Responsibilities

  1. Assists the NSSLHA Director of Operations in providing personnel services for all activities of the office.
  2. Assists in processing all applications for membership, including entering of member data in the associations database management system, processing/transmitting financial payments, and resolving any uncollected payments as well as requests for information. This position also trains the incoming temporary workers on the data entry/processing of membership applications.
  3. Attends the ASHA annual Convention and supervises the NSSLHA registration desk and manages the NSSLHA exhibit booth.
  4. Assists in the fulfillment of NSSLHA membership requests for information, and following through with membership problems so that they are solved in a timely manner.
  5. Assists in promoting the establishment and/or reactivation of NSSLHA chapters.
  6. Assists with responding to requests for information from NSSLHA Chapter Advisors.
  7. Plans, prepares, and coordinates bulk mailings, including the supervision of the ASHA word processing and special projects support staff.
  8. Maintains NSSLHA inventory, mailing lists, and files.
  9. Liaison with ASHA staff through a monthly meeting to share current information. 

Qualifications

Knowledge typically acquired through:

  • High school education, some college preferred
  • At least two to three years of administrative assistance experience in an association and/or customer service setting

Scope and depth of technical skills/knowledge:

  • Good proofreading skills
  • Intermediate level MS Word
  • Experience with database management systems, association management systems, or accounting systems
  • Good keyboarding/typing skills

Scope and depth of non-technical skills/knowledge:

  • Excellent communication skills, including professional telephone manner and demonstrated ability to compose original correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and still remain pleasant and professional
  • Demonstrated ability to present a positive and professional manner in public appearances representing NSSLHA

Salary:   $28,080 - $31,200
