Database Services Manager

Cluster/Team: Information Systems/Data Services

EXEMPT

The purpose of this position is to manage all databases for the Association including business applications and business intelligence systems; ensure data security, quality, and availability; and facilitate end user reporting access to data to support ongoing and new business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures that the association data is secure from unauthorized/unintended access by implementing and maintaining database security, configuration and change management tools and procedures
  2. Ensures that the database systems are recoverable quickly and with minimum disruption to association business in any data loss or disaster recovery event
  3. Evaluates, recommends, and participates in selection of data warehouse components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL (extract, transform, load) software, data mining tools, and meta data management tools
  4. Coaches and provides leadership to members of the Database Services Team
  5. Manages database output operations, ensuring on time delivery for all user output requests for systems in production
  6. Develops, manages and promotes processes for identification, reporting and resolution of data discrepancies and data quality issues, and works to ensure ongoing data consistency and integrity
  7. Identifies inefficiencies and gaps in database architecture and works collaboratively to develop solutions 

Qualifications 

Knowledge typically acquired through:

  • Obtaining a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management
  • Five to seven years related experience
  • One to three years supervisory experience

Scope and depth of technical knowledge/skills:

Knowledge of and experience with:

  • Microsoft SQL Server database administration
  • OLAP
  • Developing and maintaining data warehouses and data marts
  • SQL Reporting Services
  • Crystal Reports

Scope and depth of non-technical knowledge/skills:

  • Strong managerial and teamwork skills
  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications for evaluation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to write clear and accurate technical documentation

Salary:   $98,280 - $109,200
