2023 SIG Coordinating Committee Elections

The 2023 SIG Coordinating Committee elections to fill the 2024-2026 elected positions will be open Wednesday, May 10, 2023 through Wednesday, June 14, 2023, 11:59 p.m., Central Time. ASHA has partnered with Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS) to administer the 2023 SIG elections. Eligible affiliates* will receive login information via email—or via postal mail if email is unavailable—from the ASHA SIGs Election Coordinator (noreply@directvote.net). To ensure that your SIG Coordinating Committee election emails arrive safely in your inbox, add noreply@directvote.net as an approved sender.**

Candidate information, including a link to the candidate's profile on the ASHA Community, will be available on the online ballot. Names of all new Coordinating Committee members will be released following the SIG elections.

Tips:

*Only SIG affiliates (ASHA Members, including those who joined SIGs as doctoral students) are eligible to participate in the elections. International Affiliates, Assistants, and NSSLHA members are not eligible to vote or hold office. ASHA membership and SIG affiliation must be current as of Friday, April 21, 2023.

**For directions on how to add noreply@directvote.com as an approved sender, check with your IS or IT administrator, do a web search on this topic. Each email service (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo) is different.

The following SIGs are holding elections:

  • SIG 3, Voice and Upper Airway Disorders
  • SIG 4, Fluency and Fluency Disorders
  • SIG 5, Craniofacial and Velopharyngeal Disorders
  • SIG 9, Pediatric Hearing and Hearing Disorders
  • SIG 10, Issues in Higher Education
  • SIG 13, Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)
  • SIG 14, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity
  • SIG 16, School-Based Issues
  • SIG 17, Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders

The following SIGs will not have vacant elected positions for the 2024–2026 term, so no elections are being held in 2023:

  • SIG 11, Administration and Supervision
  • SIG 19, Speech Science
  • SIG 20, Counseling

Per SIG policy regarding filling elected committee vacancies (see Nominations and Elections section of the SIG Volunteer Leadership Handbook [PDF]), the following SIGs will also not hold elections in 2023. Positions on these committees have been won by acclamation.
