Healthy People 2010-Health Objectives for the Nation
Healthy People (HP) 2010, an initiative of the U.S. Department
of Health and Human services, outlines a comprehensive,
nationwide health promotion and disease prevention agenda
designed to improve the health of all people in the United States
during the first decade of the 21st century.
The document has two overarching goals that form the framework
for the initiative:
- To help individuals of all ages increase life expectancy
and improve their quality of life, and
- To eliminate health disparities among different segments of
the population, including differences that occur by gender,
race and ethnicity, education or income, disability, living in
rural localities, or sexual orientation.
