Proposed Rule Delays ICD-10 Compliance to October 1, 2014

A proposed rule would delay the compliance date for the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) for one year, from October 1, 2013, to October 1, 2014.

In February, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced it was postponing compliance, but did not indicate a new timeline. The postponement was in response to American Medical Association concerns about the administrative burdens of changes in the health care system.

The rule is scheduled to the published in the April 17 Federal Register. Comments will be accepted for 30 days after publication.
