ED Announces Final Priorities and Invites Applications for FY2011 i3 Grants

The Office of Innovation and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education, has announced final revisions to priorities, requirements, and selection criteria under the Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) program, and is also inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2011 under the i3 fund. Within this program, the Department awards three types of grants: "Scale-up" grants ("scale up" practices, strategies, or programs for which there is strong evidence ), "Validation" grants (support practices, strategies, or programs that show promise), and "Development" grants (support high-potential and relatively untested practices, strategies, or programs whose efficacy should be systematically studied). Applicants must specify the type of grant they are seeking at the time of application. The notices appeared in the June 3, 2011, Federal Register, and applications became available on June 6 with an August 2, 2011, deadline for submission of applications.

For more information on the notices, visit the appropriate listings under Education or e-mail Catherine D. Clarke, ASHA's director of education and regulatory advocacy, at cclarke@asha.org or by phone at 800-498-2071, ext. 5611.
