Grant Fuels on Study of Alzheimer's in Adults with Down Syndrome

The Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore has been awarded an $8.5 million grant by the National Institutes of Health to study the signs and effects of Alzheimer’s disease in adults with Down syndrome. Although early signs of Alzheimer’s disease can be difficult to detect in any older adult, for adults with Down syndrome it can be even more so. The grant, awarded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Branch will provide the funds to continue Kennedy Krieger’s Aging and Dementia in Adults with Down syndrome.
