On Wednesday, December 1, 2010, S.3199, the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act (EHDI), passed the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee. The bill, which reauthorizes federal funding for early hearing detection and intervention programs, is expected to be considered by the full Senate before Congress adjourns later this month.
Once the Senate passes the bill it must go back to the House of Representatives for reconsideration due to minor changes to the bill requested by lawmakers. Once it clears the House of Representatives, it will go to the President for his signature.
