ASHFoundation Toasts University Ambassadors
At the 2013 Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders annual meeting in Phoenix, the ASHFoundation thanked the more than 50 ambassadors who inspire their university faculty colleagues to make annual donations to ASHF. University Giving Program Ambassadors gathered at the ASHFoundation exhibit during the meeting's break for a "thank you" sangria toast. Many interested colleagues stopped by to learn about the program, and eight new Universary Giving Ambassadors volunteered.
Ambassadors strive for 100 percent faculty participation in annual ASHFoundation donations. Universities, and their students and researchers, are the direct beneficiaries of the ASHFoundation's mission and work.
Since 2009, ASHFoundation university ambassadors across the country have raised awareness and funds for the ASHFoundation among their colleagues. The program began with 14 university participants; today, the program includes 50 universities, led by 57 volunteers. In those four years, faculty donors have contributed more than $110,000 to support the ASHFoundation's scholarship and research grant programs.

Alabama SLPs and Audiologists Support the ASHF
Enthusiastic student volunteers from the University of South Alabama worked the crowds at the recent annual convention of the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama in Birmingham to raise money for the ASHFoundation's student scholarship and research grant programs. The students sold raffle tickets for a gift basket and for the ASHFoundation's 2013 ASHA Convention VIP Raffle. The gift basket was donated by SHAA member Doreen Oyadomari, a former ASHFoundation trustee. The SHAA Executive Board organized the student volunteers and provided a complimentary exhibit table. The effort raised almost $1,000 for the ASHFoundation.
