ASHA Leader Comment Policy

The ASHA Leader features the different perspectives of audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and others interested in the field communication sciences and disorders (CSD). ASHA staff, members, and invited authors write the articles.  Comments can only be made by members and affiliates that have registered an ASHA.org account. ASHA staff will maintain and monitor the site, including comments, but the nature of the conversations reflect the members’ own thoughts. ASHA requests that you respect a few basic rules to ensure that everyone has a pleasant user experience. This policy defines the conduct for people writing comments on The ASHA Leader website. The Terms of Use of Our Website provides the overall agreement for using the ASHA website (www.asha.org), including The ASHA Leader website. This document is subject to change at ASHA’s sole discretion. ASHA reserves the right to modify the content, features, and functionality of The ASHA Leader, and to limit or deny access to all or part of The ASHA Leader site for any reason, without prior notice.

Comments are not moderated.  ASHA reserves the right to edit, delete, move, refuse to post, or mark as spam any and all comments. They also have the right to block any individual or group from commenting.

Comment Form Guidelines

You must be logged into the ASHA.org site to post a comment. Comments using keywords, spam or splog-like URLs, or suspicious information in the comment form, will be edited, refused, or deleted.

Your comment will be attributed to your ASHA.org account and is personally identifiable. Please do not include in any comment or post any e-mail address, postal address, phone numbers, and any private and personal information, as such information posted in any comment may be deleted to protect the privacy of the commenter or individual to whom the information pertains.

How The Author Will Respond

Leaving a comment does not ensure that the author will address or answer that comment; replies to comments will be made at the author’s discretion. An author can respond to a comment privately via e-mail or other communication method or seek clarification before responding to the comment.

Language and Manners

Comments which include offensive or inappropriate language, or considered by the site administrator to be rude and offensive, for any reason or no reason, will be edited or deleted, in their sole discretion.

A Comment Is Conversation

A comment which does not add to the conversation or goes off on an inappropriate tangent may be edited or deleted.  No personal attacks are permitted. You may question or argue the content, but not attack the author, nor any other commenters. Failure to respect fellow participants on this website could result in comment removal and blocked access.
