Background

The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 mandated a claims-based data collection strategy for reporting patient condition and outcomes. To comply with this mandate, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services established non-payable G-codes for reporting on claims for Medicare Part B beneficiaries receiving therapy services.

Claims that do not comply with the data reporting requirements will be returned unpaid beginning July 1, 2013. All providers of therapy services to Medicare Part B beneficiaries should ensure that they are in full compliance with reporting prior to the July 1, 2013, deadline.

ASHA Resources
