The U.S. Department of Education (ED) published in the September 28, 2011, Federal Register, a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would amend regulations on obtaining parental consent for the use of public benefits or insurance under IDEA Part B and final rules on IDEA Part C (infants and toddlers program). ASHA is in the process of reviewing/analyzing the impact of the IDEA Part C final regulations on the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology and will submit comments on the IDEA Part B NPRM by the December 12, 2011, deadline. An analysis of both Part B and Part C will be available soon.
