ED Announces Public Hearings and Roundtables on Higher Education

The U.S. Department of Education (ED), Office of Postsecondary Education, has announced its intent to create one or more negotiated rulemaking committees to prepare proposed regulations under the Higher Education Act of 1965. The agency will also hold three public hearings this month (Tacoma, WA; Chicago, IL; and Charleston, SC) at which interested parties may suggest issues that should be considered for action by the negotiating committees, as well as host policy roundtable discussions. ED will soon publish a notice in the Federal Register announcing this.

For more information, including how to register, on the upcoming public hearings and roundtables visit ED's Web site or contact Catherine D. Clarke, ASHA's director of education and regulatory advocacy, via e-mail at or by phone at 800-498-2071, ext. 5611.
