This afternoon, the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 3199, legislation that would reauthorize the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program for five years. The legislation would also place a greater emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, and family support service for children with hearing loss. The bill will now go to the President's desk to be signed into law.
ASHA has been actively advocating for passage of this legislation. Thank you to all ASHA members that have contacted their members of Congress on this important legislation. Grassroots efforts were instrumental in the passage of this legislation.
