Located on the edge of the famous Garden District in the heart and soul of New Orleans, the area surrounding Marquette House New Orleans International Hostel was high and dry during both hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Experience this thriving part of "real" New Orleans with cafes, 24 hour pubs, coffee houses, and great music nearby. The Marquette House is a long time member of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Marquette House offers:
- Special rates for ASHA Convention attendees—discounted dorm rate of $18.70 plus tax per night or budget one room suites with bath for $53.00 plus tax per night single occupancy, and $66.00 plus tax per night double or twin occupancy.
- Separate male and female dormitories that sleep 8 to 16 people per room in bunk beds. Private rooms that sleep from 1 to 4 or 1 to 6 people are also available.
- Pillows, blankets, sheets and towels are provided. Some private rooms have additional amenities.
- Wireless internet access in lobby area, telephones and luggage storage available. Limited guest kitchen and dining room, several patio picnic areas and outdoor BBQ areas.
About the Marquette House Area
Within walking distance of the Marquette House are several hotels, banks, coffee houses, cafes, restaurants, pizzerias, pubs, laundromats, neighborhood groceries & delis, and a 24-hour drugstore. Also within walking distance are the New Orleans Metropolitan Visitors & Convention Bureau; the Rink, a former stable/skating rink now renovated into a coffeehouse, bookstore and boutiques; and the Lafayette Cemetery, the second oldest City of the Dead (above ground tombs) in New Orleans. A Wal-Mart Supercenter, an A&P Supermarket, the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Museum, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art are also located about fifteen blocks from the Marquette House. The Magazine Street Neighborhood District with its coffee houses, sidewalk cafes, pubs, eclectic shops, boutiques, and antique stores begins only six blocks away.
Reservations
As these rates are not typically available at the front desk, ASHA Convention attendees should contact the Marquette House reservations department by email to make a reservation. Inquiries should be addressed to Steve, Reservations Department, at HINewOrlns@aol.com. ASHA Convention attendees should be sure to identify themselves as being affiliated with the ASHA Convention. Dorm bed reservations are accepted with a first night deposit or a Visa/Mastercard guarantee. A first night deposit is required on all private room reservations.
