Learn more about the Region 7 Regional Councilor, Roger Reeter:
Academic status: Undergraduate Senior
Major: Speech-language pathology
Expected date of graduation: May 2010
University: Eastern Illinois University
Area of professional interest: Undecided
I joined NSSLHA because: I knew that I needed a club that I could commence professionally, and put me into a situation where I am in control of my future. I think NSSLHA is an important step in any student's career, and I would love to contribute to the fortification of an entire region of marvelous future professionals. The resources that a club for similar goal oriented students will provide a support system for me that I am more than willing to provide to others.
I applied for a position on the NSSLHA Executive Council because: I believe that I could fill any position with the integrity and competency that is required. Not only could I do a good job, but I also realize how important my position in my region would be, so I will do anything to accommodate the needs of my region and National NSSLHA. I know that I can interpret the constitution to bring my personal qualities to fulfill any needs of my region or national NSSHLA. I feel that I am properly qualified to take this position because I have found myself in many leadership roles throughout my life.
My two year term on the council will be successful if: I would feel extremely accomplished when I will go above and beyond the required and necessary tasks for the two years. I find it equally important, however, to influence everyone that I work with so that they can benefit from my personal touch. I believe I can add extra impact to whatever I achieve, because I am a character with personal goals as well as professional goals. Being a good person with a personality to help others is what I want to achieve in all areas of my life.
My vision for my region is: I think that events, speakers, and philanthropies are the best ways that I have found my own chapter to work well. I would love to be the person to help other chapters in finding what programs would work for them the best. Suggestions and communication is a large part of my vision. Uniting everyone with fun and informative tasks that will require constant feedback from each chapter. Not only will separate chapters be in contact with me at all times, but I will also allow for communication between separate schools that may be of similar size and location to each other to hopefully trade significant ideas concerning improved involvement, service, and understanding of what we do as students.
