Learn more about the Region 3, Regional Councilor, Katia Clervaud:
Academic Status: 2nd year masters student
Major: Speech-language pathology
University: Nova Southeastern University
Area of interest: Voice and/or Dysphagia
I joined NSSLHA because: I first joined NSSLHA to access ASHA journals for class. After attending the ASHA conference in November 2006, I wanted to gain as much information about the profession. I wanted to join an organization that informs and prepares students about communication sciences and disorders. I believe NSSLHA will give me this opportunity and a chance to voice my opinion, concerns, and network among students and paraprofessionals.
I applied for a position on the NSSLHA Executive Council because: I want to be a liaison for students and help them understand the importance of getting involved in NSSLHA; which provides knowledge and prepares them for the profession. I want to represent students when they voice their concerns and opinions and advise the region three local chapters on how to function effectively.
My vision for Region 3 is: To bring an awareness of NSSLHA's mission to fellow students and the regional chapters. I want to inform students and members about the opportunities and benefits of this professional organization. I also hope to increase networking and communication between the region 3 chapters.
