Region 8: NSSLHA Chapter of Saint Louis University
Every year Saint Louis University holds an Annual Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony to honor selected students and student-led organizations for giving back to the community and the school. This year among the honorees was the Region 8 NSSLHA Chapter of SLU! These NSSLHA students were awarded the Bill Nordmann Community Service Award in recognition for their community-oriented spirit and for the great impact they have left on the individuals they have chosen to serve. Bill Nordmann, a post-graduate of SLU, died tragically in a plane crash, but while living and after his passing was chiefly known for his strong dedication to service. The SLU NSSLHA Chapter has demonstrated this same dedication by raising the funds for 18 cleft-palate and cleft-lip surgeries, conducted by Operation Smile and by devoting time to read to young school children through the Saint Louis's Ready Readers program. Conducting community hearing screenings, participation in Walk Now for Autism, and in Relay for Life are other examples that could be given as evidence of this NSSLHA chapter's commitment to meeting the needs of the individuals with or at risk of developing communication disorders. NSSLHA would like to congratulate the members of the SLU chapter for the reception of this highly-esteemed award. Your leadership and service provide a great example for other NSSLHA chapters.
