Auxiliary presentations are not intended to be promotional or recruitment opportunities for volunteer positions. These presentations are open to all registered Convention attendees, however, ASHA CEUs are not awarded for participation. Lunch is not provided.

Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) Site Visits: What to Expect, How to Prepare

For graduate programs that anticipate a 2013 CAA site visit, this session will prepare you for a successful, comprehensive visit. CAA members will provide tips on developing agendas and preparing documentation in advance and describe the conduct of the visit so that you can feel confident going into the site visit. Program directors and faculty members who are part of a program having a CAA visit in calendar year 2013 are encouraged to attend. View the presentation handout [PDF].
Clinical Specialty Recognition: What's in It for Me?

The Council for Clinical Specialty Recognition will present an overview of specialty recognition and the three current Specialty Boards: BRS-Child Language, BRS-Fluency Disorders, and BRS-Swallowing Disorders. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from a new group petitioning for specialty recognition, the Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring (NIOM) Group. Following the presentation, participants will have an opportunity to talk with members of the Council and the Specialty Boards.
The Clinical Fellowship (CF) Experience: What You Need to Know

HES Update and Data Reports for the CSD Education Survey

Join us for a discussion about what the Higher Education Data System's (HES) CSD Education Survey data reveal. This interactive session will review key data elements about undergraduate through PhD education and the pipeline for clinical personnel and faculty-researchers. Tips on how to navigate and complete the CSD Education Survey, updates on EdFind and future HES instruments will also be provided. Program directors will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input.
The Council for Clinical Certification (CFCC) Update

Attendees will engage in an interactive session with members from the CFCC as they discuss critical updates involving the speech-language pathology and audiology certification standards as well as key initiatives in 2013. You will not want to miss this session.

Targeted for new and continuing program directors, the CAA will discuss the value of accreditation, the aspects of conducting a self-study for continuous quality improvement, and completing an accreditation report; provide a refresher on the accreditation review process; and clarify the roles and responsibilities of program directors, CAA reviewers, CAA site visitors, and accreditation staff.
