Kansas Support Personnel Requirements

The following information includes speech-language pathology and audiology support personnel requirements in educational and other practice settings. The information is reviewed on an annual basis. Speech-Language Pathology

School Setting Requirements

No additional requirements.

Statutory and Regulatory Requirements

  1. Speech-language pathology assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a training program conducted by a Kansas-licensed speech-language pathologist.
  2. Each assistant must receive ongoing supervised training by a Kansas-licensed speech-language pathologist for a minimum of one hour per month.
  3. Each licensed supervisor shall directly supervise at least 10% of the assistant's client contact time.
  4. Each supervisor shall within 30 days of employing an assistant, submit written notice to the department of the assistant's name, employment location, and verification that the assistant meets the established qualification.

Audiology

School Setting Requirements

Audiology support personnel are not regulated in this setting.

Statutory and Regulatory Requirements

Audiology assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a training program conducted by a state licensed audiologist. Each assistant must receive ongoing supervised training by a Kansas-licensed audiologist for a minimum of one hour per month. Each supervisor shall directly supervise at least 10% of the assistant's client contact time. Each supervisor shall, within 30 days of employing an assistant, submit written verification of the assistant's name, employment location, and evidence of the assistant's meeting the established qualifications.
