Representative Charles W. Boustany Jr., MD, a cardiovascular surgeon with more than 20 years of experience, was first elected to Congress in December 2004 and just concluded his fourth term. As a physician, Rep. Boustany understands the importance of health care and is at the forefront of health care policymaking in Congress. Rep. Boustany is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on Oversight. The Congressman was raised in Lafayette and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) before graduating from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1982. The Congressman is a supporter of H.R. 1546, the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2011, and H.R. 1479, The Hearing Aid Assistance Tax Credit Act of 2011.

Representative Steny Hoyer serves in a leadership role as the Democratic Whip in the House of Representatives. He has been a longtime champion of disability issues and was credited with shepherding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to overwhelming approval in the House in 1990. In 2008, the Congressman also led the effort to pass the ADA Amendments Act, which allows millions of Americans with disabilities to benefit from the ADA's original intent of inclusion.
