Apply to Volunteer as a CAA Site Visitor

Application Deadline: December 15, 2015

The Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals to serve as site visitors to graduate education programs in audiology and speech-language pathology. Site visitors serve as part of the corps of volunteers who travel to university campuses to conduct accreditation reviews on behalf of the CAA. The next terms start July 1, 2016.

Qualifications for Service

To ensure representation from the many perspectives of graduate education, the CAA established three site visitor categories:

  • Academic Faculty
  • Clinical Faculty
  • Practitioner

The qualifications for each of the three categories are fully described in Chapter VII of the CAA Accreditation Handbook [PDF]. It is expected that all individuals who are selected for the training will meet the qualifications when their term begins on July 1. Please consult with the Accreditation Staff if your employment setting or responsibilities change as that may affect a candidate's qualifications for service.

Application Process and Notification

If you are someone who meets the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Accreditation Handbook [PDF] for any of the categories and are interested in promoting quality academic programs, please submit an application online to become a CAA site visitor. Also, you are encouraged to forward this information along to anyone you think may be interested in serving in this capacity—including academic faculty members, clinical faculty members, and practitioners in your community.

Applications must be submitted online no later than December 15, 2015.

Notifications will be made to all applicants in March 2016. Individuals selected during this recruitment will be trained at a 2-day workshop in the summer of 2016 at the ASHA National Office in Rockville, Maryland. Expenses associated with attendance at this training session and for all site visits (e.g., air travel, lodging, food, and ground transportation) are covered by the Association.

Please contact Accreditation staff at if you have questions.
